The year lies before as fresh fallen snow
No tracks yet appear, no drifts from a blow
Tis a picture of beauty, a blanket of peace
They’re gifts from above to grant us release.
The year lies before as fresh fallen snow
It covers the past with its failure and woe
T’was a year of some progress, though muddied by regress
Thank God for redemption, for love and forgiveness.
The year lies before as fresh fallen snow
It’s a scene of pure grace — a painting from God
It calls us to feel, to think, and to do
About the lives that we lead and the chance to renew.
The year lies before as fresh fallen snow
It invites us to know which way we should go
It cannot remain in the silence of sleep
It must be disturbed by my hands and my feet.
The year lies before as fresh fallen snow
It will soon bear the marks of time’s oft repeat
But we can choose what the marks will say
Creating new life for a brand new day!

Poetry can truly be like a painting, illustrating and picturing some poignant message or insight the author/painter may have in mind.
Edwin, I immediately made a connection of my own as I read through your beautiful poem—–to the many times I have experienced that fresh fallen snow which somehow inspires one….. Thank you for inspiring me to step out into this New Year with the redemption of God in place, and the grace of God assured for me personally. What a great God we serve; and isn’t it great that we can claim this same God as our personal friend? I am woefully aware of my personal shortcomings in light of His majesty and grace, but am awed at the fact of His forgiveness and mercy to me. I truly desire to be a more loving and caring child of His this coming year of 2010.
Thank you for being such a loving brother to me and all of us. You truly minister to all of us in such beautiful ways. Thank you too, for sharing your talent in communication—–even in poetic ways. May God grant many rich blessings to you and your family this coming year.
Hello Ed,
I am so thankful to God. I have been praying for a while, asking God what I should write my family. They live far away and I do not see them often. When I read this poem, I knew that this is what God wanted me to write them, as most of them do not know the Lord.
Again, thank you for sending me this.
God bless you and guide your everystep.
Monique
Hello it’s me again, I guess I should ask if I may use your poem to send my family.
